Joaquin Arteaga (Venezuela)
Joaquin Arteaga, venezuelan musician based in Barcelona Spain; creator, bandleader, composer and timbalero of Tromboranga salsa orchestra.
From an early age he felt a great passion for music and percussion instruments.
He studies Afro Venezuelan percussion at “Fundción Biggot” in Caracas, and also explores Afro Cuban styles and drum set with various teachers in Venezuela.
During his stay in New York, he attends Boys Harbor where he studies Latin percussion. In 1998 he traveled to Barcelona, Spain, where he studied at the Conservatory of “L'aula de música moderna y jazz”, where he later became part of the teaching staff until 2004.
In 2004 he travels to Amsterdam where he has the opportunity to be part of the Gerardo Rosales Orchestra. He also performs several tours in Europe, accompanying Latin artists such as Andy Montañez, Andres Cepeda, Cano Estremera, Jhon Lozano, Gerardo Rosales, Gabino Pampini, Kanabayen Orchestra, La Sucursal SA, Paul De Castro and his Dengue Orchestra , Venezuelan Masters Orchestra, Bloque 53 among others.
Since 2009 he is the endorser of the prestigious Latin Percussion LP brand.
In 2011, he created the Tromboranga Orchestra (www.tromboranga.com), where he performs as a composer, bandleader and timbalero. Recognized internationally by themes such as "Agua que va caer", and his own compositions (music and lyrics) "Humildad", "Sentimiento Caleño", "Adios que te va bien", "Palo pa la campana", "Como la marea" “A Caraj” “Mi china colombiana” “Otro ladrillo en la pared” and many more, written by Joaquin.
Joaquín has produced and recorded 9 Tromboranga albums and made 12 videos under the general production of Joaquin (Discs: "Salsa Dura", "Al mal tiempo buena salsa", "Solo para coleccionistas vol 1", "Salsa pa'rato" “Golpe con melodia "," Sangre Sudor y Salsa " “Tumbando Fronteras”).
He also organizes percussion workshops and makes important international tours with Tromboranga including Latin America, North America, Europe, Australia and Asia, where he has also worked as a general manager.
Tromboranga music is also used in diferent TV shows in Europe, including the Tv show “Salsa” in Russia, has won the “Lukas Awards” “European act of the year 2017”, also in Colombia, in Feria de Cali the song “Sentimiento Caleño” was on 4th place “Canción de La Feria year 2015”.
Joaquin organizes and teaches percussion salsa workshops and also musicality for salsa dancers in english and spanish all around the world. He has taught in Spain, Japan, Australia, Colombia, U.S.A., France, U.K., Marroco, Lebanon, Thailand among other countries.
