Choreographer, teacher, dancer, DJ, music composer and community development practitioner, Elvis Sibeko
Elvis Sibeko specializes in South African dance styles and is an acclaimed professional dancer, choreographer, teacher & Co-Founder CEO of the Black Roots Foundation, which is an innovative NPO organization that cultivates South African Indigenous Arts & Culture activities nationally and internationally.
He joined Jazzart Dance Theatre’s Performance Company in 2012 after completing the Jazzart three-year Training Programme in 2011. Prior to joining Jazzart Elvis worked at Tribhangi Dance Theatre as a professional dancer he had previously trained with them in dance styles such as Indian, Traditional and Gumboots. Elvis also danced with the Leerhuleni Educational Theatre and worked as a dance teacher and choreographer with Lily School of Arts. Elvis was a 2009 nominee for the FNB Vita Dance Umbrella’s Most Promising Dancer award and was awarded a bursary as the Most Promising Dancer at the Jazzart Dance Theatre Training Programme in 2010. He was part of FIFA World cup 2010, African Songbook (tribute to Nelson Mandela). Elvis has completed his Higher Education and Training Certificate in Development Practice and established the Masifundisane Educational Dance Project. Elvis is a skilled choreographer, teacher, dancer, DJ, music composer and a qualified community development practitioner. In a period of 10 years working in the arts industry Elvis has opened three community groups (NPO) in South Africa namely: Daveyton Dance Foundation, only focus on dance training. Masifundisane Education Dance Project, only focus on dance curriculum development. Daveyton Arts Foundation, this organisation is the umbrella of arts and culture for the community of Daveyton/Johannesburg.
Elvis is planning on studying further and have is degree and honors in arts and culture development. His dream is to be a professor in arts and culture.
