Dance instructors & performers: Mistura Movement (Netherlands)

Mistura Movement is a kizomba dance concept based in the Netherlands and lead by Selwin &
Suleika, one of today’s Holland’s top kizomba couples.

Selwin first explored music before he got into dance. Being active in sports and listening to music were always present through his youth. He was triggered by all kinds of music styles such as Latin, soul but also Oriental and Asian music. He started playing flute at a young age. From flute he went to keyboard and finally he started playing Arabic percussion and guitar. His first performance was he was 16 years old playing Darbuka/Tablah on different stages. Passionate about making music, he also got into contact with Latin dances such as mambo, cha cha, bachata and Kizomba. After a period of engaging in the dance Kizomba and meeting Suleika as his dance partner, they started Mistura Movement together.

Selwin sees dance as a way for a person to express himself/herself by using the body as a tool. Being conscious about that makes a person conscious about herself/himself. Energy, discipline and being yourself are important for him. Selwin's goal is to explore yourself and your environment, mentally & physicially, through dance.

Ever since she was young, dancing has been Suleika Pauli's passion. From Hip Hop to all kinds of technical dance styles at the Dance Academy, to Kizomba. Together with Selwin she has been studying Kizomba and they've created their own style of teaching and dancing. In her opinion, dance must feel natural and logical and they believe you can see that in their techniques. This makes it approachable for everyone and the essence of Kizomba a lot clearer.

Suleika loves to share her knowledge with others. They like to have a good atmosphwere with good laughs in their classes, where they also work seriously on technique. "Our goal is to let everyone grow and to make everyone feel confortable during social parties."

The mission of Mistura Movement is to spread their passion for dance and to let people express
themselves and enjoy life with each other through dance and music.
