NEWS! Tango at #JHBAfroLatinFest 2019!
Tango comes to the Johannesburg Afro-Latin Festival 2019!
The second edition of the Johannesburg Afro-Latin Festival will include a special milonga and dinner buffet, a performance and workshops by four local and international artists:
Sonia Burdett, of AfroMambo Dance Company, is based in Johannesburg and teaches Argentinian Tango, salsa, kizomba and bachata. She has been instrumental in introducing tango in South Africa and will be part of the beginners’ Crash Course at the festival, leading an introduction to Tango workshop for non-dancers and ‘SBK’ dancers alike.
Rachael Glaser from Cape Town is the director of Libertango, supports the Cape Town Tango Marathon and has studied intensively in Buenos Aires, Argentina. “My passion is to share the complex and subtle beauty of the dance — the way that it awakens sensual, non-verbal communication, a mindful connection with our partner — and its unique ability to braid together our mind, body and spirit.”
Frias Fumo & Maiasse de Deus of Dance Spot Mozambique, Maputo are extraordinary performers and Frias’ inspiring instruction is increasingly sought-after. We are proud to support our fellow African nations.
