Pires & Silvia - specialists in Angolan dance forms

Sílvia de Engrácia Gonçalves Pereira is 26 years old, from Angola. At 8 years old she attended the classic ballet group Alpha & Omega. In 2017 she became a member of the Semba Phenomena group (currently consisting of 9 members) where she learned to dance the Semba, Kizomba, traditional and Waltz styles. She is a teacher of kizomba and semba dance at her school and in 2019 participated in the national contest of Kizomba & Semba in Angola, being awarded the 3rd place.

Gregório Domingos Pires, better known as Pires Kizomba, started dancing Angolan folk dances in 2009. Without formal training he started mastering semba, kizomba, kuduro, afro-house, cabetula four years later after being encouraged by his community. Dance became his life dream.

 In 2013, while training in pedagogy, social psychology and personal marketing, he rose to prominence at the Semba Dance Project, Kizomba in Angola and Kizomba In Angola Street (PKR).

In 2015, he began dancing Rumba, Plena and learning traditional styles such as Kwassa, Rebita (Massemba), Tchianda, Kazucuta with the living masters of Angola - Mestre Petchu, Maneco Viera Dias, Sacaneno Joao de Deus, Roldão Ferreira, Domingos Nguizane, Eduardo Paim, Lito Graca, Dionisio Rocha, Antonio Rosa, Isabel Rosa. He opened his own school of dance a year later,

His group - The Semba Phenomena, became one of the biggest and best Angolan popular and traditional dance groups of the new generation in Angola.

 In 2017 he was invited to Brazil by Fernanda Shneider and by José Lemos to congresses in Chile and Argentina, giving workshops in Semba and Kizomba.
